چکیده

BackgroundTranscranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) has emerged as a non-invasive brain technique. Most studies show that anodal tDCS increases cortical excitability. However, this effect been found to be highly variable.ObjectiveTo test the of on excitability and interaction two participant-specific factors may explain individual differences in sensitivity tDCS: Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor Val66Met polymorphism (BDNF genotype) latency difference between anterior-posterior lateromedial TMS pulses (APLM latency).MethodsIn 62 healthy participants, over left motor cortex was measured before after at 2 mA for 20 min pre-registered, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial with repeated measures.ResultsWe did not find main tDCS, nor an predictors. Moreover, further analyses provide evidence existence responders non-responders.ConclusionThis study indicates reliably affect

Effect of Memantine on Positive Sign in Patients with Schizophrenia and Schizoaffective Disorders: A Randomized Double Blind Placebo Controlled Trial

Background and purpose: Memantine is a medication used to treat moderate to severe Alzheimer’s disease. Memantine targeting the glutamatergic system specifically N-Methyl-D-Aspartate offer a novel approach in treatment of psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of memantine in combination with an...

5-HT3 antagonist for cognition improvement in schizophrenia: a double blind, placebo-controlled trial

Introduction: Patients with schizophrenia characteristically exhibit cognitive deficits. The level of cognitive impairment is found to predict the functional outcome of the illness more strongly than the severity of positive or negative symptoms. The purpose of this study was to assess the efficacy of ondansetron, a 5-HT3 receptor antagonist as an adjuvant agent in the treatment of chronic...

No Effect of a Homeopathic Preparation on Neonatal Calf Diarrhoea in a Randomised Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Clinical Trial

A double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial of a homeopathic treatment of neonatal calf diarrhoea was performed using 44 calves in 12 dairy herds. Calves with spontaneously derived diarrhoea were treated with either the homeopathic remedy Podophyllum (D30) (n = 24) or a placebo (n = 20). No clinically or statistically significant difference between the 2 groups was demonstrated. Calves tr...
