Noisy Optimization of Dispatching Policy for the Cranes at the Storage Yard in an Automated Container Terminal

In this paper, we claim that the operation schedule of automated stacking cranes (ASC) in storage yard container terminals can be built effectively and efficiently by using a crane dispatching policy, propose noisy optimization algorithm named N-RTS derive such policy efficiently. To select job for an ASC, our uses multi-criteria scoring function to calculate score each candidate weighted summation evaluations those criteria. As calculated depends on respective weights these criteria, thus different weight vector gives rise best candidate, deemed as policy. A good vector, or found simulation-based search where is evaluated through computationally expensive simulation applying some scenarios. We may simplify save time but at cost sacrificing evaluation accuracy. copes with dilemma maintaining balance between exploration exploitation. Experimental results show derived outperforms other ASC scheduling methods. also conducted additional experiments benchmark functions validate performance N-RTS.
