Non-Destructive Testing Inspection for Metal Components Produced Using Wire and Arc Additive Manufacturing

The wire and arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) process enables the creation repair of complex structures based on successive deposition fed metal in form a that is fused with an electric then solidifies. high number depositions required to create or parts increases likelihood defect formation. If these are reliably detected during manufacturing, timely correction possible. However, temperatures surface irregularity make inspection difficult. Furthermore, depending size, morphology, location defect, part can be rejected. Recent studies have shown non-destructive testing (NDT) different physical phenomena for timely, reliable, customized detection defects significantly reduce rejection rate allow in-line repair, which consequently reduces waste rework.
