Heterotic Orbifold Models and Yukawa Couplings
We classify compactification lattices for supersymmetric Z2×Z2 orbifolds. These lattices include factorisable as well as non-factorisable six-tori. Different models lead to different numbers of fixed points/tori. A lower bound on the number of fixed tori per twisted sector is given by four, whereas an upper bound consists of 16 fixed tori per twisted sector. Thus, these models have a variety of...
متن کاملMinimal String Unification and Yukawa Couplings in Orbifold Models
We study the minimal supersymmetric standard model derived from ZN × ZM orbifold models. Moduli dependent threshold corrections of the gauge couplings are investigated to explain the measured values of the coupling constants. Also we study Yukawa couplings of the models. We find that the Z2 × Z ′ 6, Z2 × Z6, Z3 × Z6 and Z6 × Z6 orbifold models have the possibility to derive Yukawa couplings for...
متن کاملBBB building
Sometimes you can get to your destination just by following the crowd. Baker et al. report that photoreceptor proteins lacking targeting sequences end up in the right place thanks to their more abundant, and more goal-oriented, fellow travelers. Rod and cone cells are divided into four compartments: a synaptic terminal, a nuclear region, an inner segment for protein and lipid synthesis, and an ...
متن کاملFormation and maintenance of the BBB
The central nervous system (CNS) is vascularized by a dense capillary network that is critical to deliver oxygen and nutrients, and remove carbon dioxide and waste products, from the neural tissue. These blood vessels contain a series of properties, termed the blood-brain barrier (BBB), which distinguishes them from vasculature in other tissues, enabling CNS vessels to stringently regulate the ...
متن کاملA novel hypothesis of blood-brain barrier (BBB) development and in vitro BBB model: neural stem cell is the driver of BBB formation and maintenance
There is an ongoing effort to develop in vitro models for the blood-brain barrier (BBB) research and the central nervous system (CNS) drug screening. But the phenotypes of the existing in vitro models are still very remote from those found in vivo. The trouble in establishing in vitro BBB models comes from the unclear mechanism of the BBB formation and maintenance. The astrocytes have been foun...
