Nonlinear optical properties of meso-Tetra(fluorenyl)porphyrins peripherally functionalized with one to four ruthenium alkynyl substituents

The synthesis of a series four porphyrin derivatives based on meso-tetrafluorenylporphyrin core functionalized with one to trans-chlorobis(dppe)ruthenium alkynyl units (dppe = 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane) at the periphery, together cyclic voltammetry (CV) and UV–Vis absorption emission spectroscopy studies, are reported. In these multipolar assemblies, organoruthenium endgroups potential electron-donors central is electron-acceptor. third-order nonlinear optical (NLO) responses have been assessed by Z-scan, revealing that extended π-networks incorporating polarizable organometallic behave as absorbers in near-IR range. role peripheral transition metal centers NLO properties discussed.
