Nonlinear Optical Response of SDW Insulators
We calculate the third order nonlinear optical response in the Hubbard model within the spin density wave (SDW) mean field ansatz in which the gap is due to onsite Coulomb repulsion. We obtain closed-form analytical results in one dimension (1D) and two dimension (2D), which show that nonlinear optical response in SDW insulators in 2D is stronger than both 3D and 1D. We also calculate the two p...
متن کاملCoherent nonlinear optical response of graphene.
We investigate the nonlinear optical properties of graphene flakes using four-wave mixing. The corresponding third-order optical susceptibility is found to be remarkably large and only weakly dependent on the wavelength in the near-infrared frequency range. The magnitude of the response is in good agreement with our calculations based on the nonlinear quantum response theory.
متن کاملOptical and Nonlinear Optical Response of Light Sensor Thin Films
For potential ultrafast optical sensor application, both VO2 thin films and nanocomposite crystal-Si enriched SiO2 thin films grown on fused quartz substrates were successfully prepared using pulsed laser deposition (PLD) and RF co-sputtering techniques. In photoluminescence (PL) measurement c-Si/SiO2 film contains nanoparticles of crystal Si exhibits strong red emission with the band maximum r...
متن کاملNonlinear optical observation of coherent acoustic Dirac plasmons in thin-film topological insulators
Low-energy collective electronic excitations exhibiting sound-like linear dispersion have been intensively studied both experimentally and theoretically for a long time. However, coherent acoustic plasmon modes appearing in time-domain measurements are rarely observed due to Landau damping by the single-particle continua. Here we report on the observation of coherent acoustic Dirac plasmon (CAD...
متن کاملQuantized density response in insulators.
The response of particle density to a dilation of a periodic potential in an insulator, with or without a fixed background potential or a magnetic field, is shown to be quantized. A similar phenomenon occurs in a quantum Hall system, where the derivative of the electron density with respect to the magnetic field is quantized in units of e/h, the inverse flux quantum. A number of other interesti...
