Numerical analysis of ligament instability and breakup in shear flow

In this study, we perform a numerical analysis of the instability ligament in shear flow and investigate effects air-liquid on growth rate interface, breakup time, droplet diameter formed by breakup. The is stretched direction shearing airflow. Furthermore, as influence increases, becomes deformed into liquid sheet, perforation forms at center sheet. sheet breaks up due to contracts under surface tension, forming two ligaments with diameters smaller than that original ligament. airflow causes elongate, cross-section elliptical, which increases instability. As result, exceeds theoretical value, increasing wavenumber initial disturbance. Therefore, droplets decreases increase governs ligament, because time for decreases. velocity difference constrictions form earlier satellite increases. main decreases, dispersion making uniform.
