چکیده
In this paper, we introduce an extension of the piecewise rigid displacement (PRD) method for addressing stability a generic two-dimensional masonry structure subjected to large displacements. So far, PRD has been applied simulate cracks in reference configuration considering small Here, investigate both and internal forces presence foundation displacements, also providing approach estimate their maximum allowable value. Numerical Modelling of Timber Braced Frame Masonry Structures (Dhajji Dewari)
This paper presents numerical modeling technique for Dhajji-Dewari structures (timber-braced rubble stone masonry), and its application for the evaluation of in-plane force-deformation capacity of Dhajji wall panels of different configuration of bracings. Dhajji structures are mainly composed of vertical and horizontal timber posts and braced using diagonal bracings and horizontal studs. Wall o...
متن کاملModal Analysis of Masonry Structures
This paper presents a new numerical tool for evaluating the vibration frequencies and mode shapes of masonry buildings in the presence of cracks. The algorithm has been implemented within the NOSA-ITACA code, which models masonry as a nonlinear elastic material with zero tensile strength. Some case studies are reported, and the differences between linear and nonlinear behaviour highlighted.
متن کاملNumerical Modelling of the Segmental Lining of Underground Structures
There are several methods for analysing the behaviour of underground structures under different loading conditions. Most of these methods have many simplifications; therefore, in some cases, the results are too conservative and a very high safety factor, usually of more than 2 is needed. On the other hand, for stability analysis and the designing of support systems, these methods consider segme...
متن کاملLimit states of modern unreinforced clay brick masonry walls subjected to in-plane loading
Recent research showed that the in-plane horizontal displacement capacity of unreinforced masonry (URM) walls depends on numerous factors that are not yet captured by current empirical drift capacity models; e.g., axial stress, shear span, geometry of the walls and the material used. In order to improve the performance-based assessment of URM wall buildings, future research should aim at develo...
