Numerical simulation and experimental trials on superplastic forming for thin-walled structure of Ti2AINb alloy

Abstract. The difficult formability of Ti2AlNb alloy leads to the difficulty traditional manufacturing methods form complex thin-walled components, limiting wide application in aerospace. In this paper superplastic forming process Ti2AINb with structure was studied. tensile tests were carried out at varying temperature ranging from 920℃ 980℃ and strain rate 0.001s-1 0.03s-1. effect deformation-temperature on deformation behaviour analysed, showing that flow stress elongation increase increasing decreases, increases decrease rate. reaches maximum value 525% 940℃ 0.001s-1. constitutive equation taking into account developed, which implemented FE-based software Abaqus simulate structure. optimal values slab thickness loading pressure-time curve obtained by simulation performed. comparison between numerical experimental data regard variation verified accuracy finite element model. research results provide a reference basis for preparation structures
