Numerical simulation of NACA4412 airfoil in pre-stall conditions

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to study turbulent flow separation at the airfoil trailing edge. This work aims improve knowledge stall phenomenon by creating a QDNS database for NACA412 airfoil. Design/methodology/approach Quasi-DNS simulations NACA 4412 in pre-stall conditions have been completed. Reynolds number based on chord and freestream velocity equal 0.35 million, Mach 0.117. Transition triggered both surfaces avoiding occurrence laminar bubbles ensure mixing wake. Four incidences considered, 5, 8 10 11 degrees. Findings results obtained show reasonably good correlation present with classical MSES RANS computations, terms pressure skin-friction distribution, an earlier more extended QDNS. thus generated will be deeply analysed enriched larger future. Originality/value No experimental or HPC numerical reasonable exists literature. current first step that direction.
