چکیده

Abstract At present, ecosystems are facing changes caused by global warming and anthropogenic impacts on geochemical cycles. Both temperature nutrient availability affect litter decomposition; however, little is known about their simultaneous effect decomposition in temperate forests, especially for nutrients such as Na K. To address this perspective, we investigated how N, P, K supply increased measured respiration. Moreover, the study determines what can be expected functioning of two forest types different fertility (deciduous coniferous). The respiration measurements were conducted laboratory mesocosms filled with from deciduous (oak-hornbeam) coniferous (mixed pine-oak) forests fertilized K, Na. experiment was at ambient (14 °C; oak-hornbeam mixed pine-oak litter) temperatures (22 litter). increasing temperature, Q 10 values ranging 1.49 to 2.14. Our results showed responses addition between types. In oak-hornbeam, 14 °C, P decreased respiration, whereas 22 an noted only under N application, after addition, other had no effect. Together, our suggest that forecasting impact deposition ecosystem should consider rise a factor altering fertilization future research.

Heterotrophic respiration does not acclimate to continuous warming in a subtropical forest.

As heterotrophic respiration (R(H)) has great potential to increase atmospheric CO2 concentrations, it is important to understand warming effects on R(H) for a better prediction of carbon-climate feedbacks. However, it remains unclear how R(H) responds to warming in subtropical forests. Here, we carried out trenching alone and trenching with warming treatments to test the climate warming effect...

Effect of heavy metals and mineral nutrients on forest litter respiration rate.

Two hypotheses were tested: (1) heavy metals such as Zn, Pb and Cd can suppress the respiration rate of forest litter at low-moderate pollution levels, and (2) mineral nutrients such as K, Ca and Mg can counteract the toxicity of heavy metals when applied onto the polluted litter. In a completely randomised design, three doses of heavy metals were used: Cd-10, 50, 250; Pb-100, 500, 2500; Zn-200...

Temperature Sensitivity of Microbial Respiration of Fine Root Litter in a Temperate Broad-Leaved Forest

The microbial decomposition respiration of plant litter generates a major CO2 efflux from terrestrial ecosystems that plays a critical role in the regulation of carbon cycling on regional and global scales. However, the respiration from root litter decomposition and its sensitivity to temperature changes are unclear in current models of carbon turnover in forest soils. Thus, we examined seasona...

Soil respiration under climate warming: differential response of heterotrophic and autotrophic respiration.

Despite decades of research, how climate warming alters the global flux of soil respiration is still poorly characterized. Here, we use meta-analysis to synthesize 202 soil respiration datasets from 50 ecosystem warming experiments across multiple terrestrial ecosystems. We found that, on average, warming by 2 °C increased soil respiration by 12% during the early warming years, but warming-indu...

Mineralization of forest litter nutrients by heat and combustion

Temperature dependant mineralization dynamics during fire of litter species characteristic of the New Jersey pine barrens was determined. Senescent leaf material of pitch pine (Pinus rigida), white oak (Quercus alba) and black huckleberry (Gaylusssacia baccata) were collected at the time of abscission; sorted, ground and oven-dried at 70 8C. Replicate samples were then heated for 2 h at: 70, 10...
