Observability of inflated companion stars after supernovae in massive binaries

چکیده

We carry out a systematic study of the response companion stars in massive binaries after being impacted by supernova ejecta. A total 720 1D stellar evolution calculations are performed to follow inflation and contraction star energy injection how it depends on various parameters. find that maximum luminosity achieved during inflated phase is only dependent mass we derive an analytic formula describe relation. There also tight correlation between duration expansion intersected energy. These correlations will be useful constrain pre-supernova binary parameters from future detections companions. discuss possible outcomes system when taken into account. Based simple population synthesis, estimate $\sim$1-3% stripped-envelope supernovae may have observable Finally, apply our models observed SN2006jc place strong constraints

Bowen Fluorescence from Companion Stars in X-ray Binaries

This paper will review a new technique of detecting companion stars in LMXBs and X-ray transients in outburst using the Bowen fluorescence lines at λλ4634-4640. These lines are very efficiently reprocessed in the atmospheres of the companion stars, and thereby provide estimates of the K2 velocities and mass functions. The method has been applied to Sco X-1, X1822-371 and GX339-4 which, in the l...

Companion Stars of Type Ia supernovae with different metallicities

Single degenerate model is the widely accepted progenitor model of Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia), where a CO WD accretes hydrogen-rich material from its companion to increase its mass. The companion may be a main-sequence star or a subgiant star (WD + MS). When the CO WD approaches the Chandrasekhar mass limit, it explodes as a SN Ia and a part of supernova ejecta collides into the companion enve...

The Evolution of Supernovae in the Winds of Massive Stars

We study the evolution of supernova remnants in the circumstellar medium formed by mass loss from the progenitor star. The properties of this interaction are investigated, and the specific case of a 35 M⊙ star is studied in detail. The evolution of the SN shock wave in this case may have a bearing on other SNRs evolving in wind-blown bubbles, especially SN 1987A.

Bridging the gap: from massive stars to supernovae.

Almost since the beginning, massive stars and their resultant supernovae have played a crucial role in the Universe. These objects produce tremendous amounts of energy and new, heavy elements that enrich galaxies, encourage new stars to form and sculpt the shapes of galaxies that we see today. The end of millions of years of massive star evolution and the beginning of hundreds or thousands of y...

Can very massive stars avoid Pair-instability Supernovae ?

Very massive primordial stars (140 M < M < 260 M ) are supposed to end their lives as pair-instability supernovae. Such an event can be traced by a typical chemical signature in low metallicity stars, but at the present time, this signature is lacking in the extremely metal-poor stars we are able to observe. Does it mean that those very massive objects did not form, contrarily to the primordial...
