Analogies have been drawn between therapeutic recovery and decolonization. This will mean that one can interrogate psychological effects of trauma on cultures or nations undergo undergone colonization. If decolonization is perceived a form therapy, colonialism adjudged potential trauma. paper interested in understanding how could potentially traumatize nation given culture. It equally explores as therapy. thus analyses the Kunle Afolayan’s October 1 (2014). No scholarly work has done analysis colonial Nollywood film texts. might be result paucity texts speak to theme. therefore ace filmmaker, Afolayan, uses his metaphor mirror traumatic effect Nigeria nation. film’s major characters’ relations their pasts provide insight Nigeria’s social history. study attempts visualize characters, traumatized by colonialism. further envisions possible paths survival these chosen recovery.
