چکیده
The analysis of Cartesian Perfectly Matched Layers (PMLs) in the context time-domain electromagnetic wave propagation a 3D unbounded anisotropic homogeneous medium modelled by diagonal dielectric tensor is presented. Contrary to scalar equation or 2D Maxwell’s equations some anisotropies lead existence backward waves giving rise instabilities PMLs. Numerical experiments confirm presented result.

Perfectly Matched Layers equations for 3D acoustic wave propagation in heterogeneous media
This work is dedicated to the analysis of Berenger PML method applied to the 3D linearized Euler equations without advection terms, with variable wave velocity and acoustic impedance. It is an extension of a previous work presented in a 2D context [8]. The 3D linearized Euler equations are used to simulate propagation of acoustic waves beneath the subsurface. We propose an analysis of these equ...
متن کاملPerfectly matched layers for the heat and advection-diffusion equations
We design a perfectly matched layer for the advection-diffusion equation. We show that the reflection coefficient is exponentially small with respect to the damping parameter and the width of the PML and this independently of the advection and of the viscosity. Numerical tests assess the efficiency of the approach.
متن کاملPerfectly Matched Layers for Second Order Wave Equations
Numerical simulation of propagating waves in unbounded spatial domains is a challenge common to many branches of engineering and applied mathematics. Perfectly matched layers (PML) are a novel technique for simulating the absorption of waves in open domains. The equations modeling the dynamics of phenomena of interest are usually posed as differential equations (or integral equations) which mus...

متن کاملNotes on Perfectly Matched Layers (PMLs)
This note is intended as a brief introduction to the theory and practice of per fectly matched layer (PML) absorbing boundaries for wave equations, intended for future use in the courses 18.369 and 18.336 at MIT. It focuses on the complex stretched-coordinate viewpoint, and also discusses the limitations of PML.
