چکیده
Steel strands have been widely used in industrial fields as a reliable load-bearing component. Under the influence of environmental erosion and fatigue stress, different types damage, such corrosion fracture, will occur in-service steel strands, which cause unpredictable loss personnel property. Ultrasonic nondestructive testing technology has become an ideal method for long-distance metal structures recent years due to advantages long detection distance high efficiency. The effect ultrasonic largely depends on propagation characteristics selected guided wave modes. However, helical structure contact between wires, waves are very complicated. In this paper, analyzing dispersion based Floquet boundary conditions (Floquet BCs) is proposed. essence mutual transformation principle solution vibration solution. To adapt paper proposes coordinate system twisted deduces corresponding wavenumber conversion formula. results BCs consistent with semi-analytical finite element sweep frequency modeling method, proves correctness BC from both theoretical experimental perspectives. This provides new idea complex waveguides strands.

Propagation of Ultrasonic Guided Waves in Composite Multi-Wire Ropes
Multi-wire ropes are widely used as load-carrying constructional elements in bridges, cranes, elevators, etc. Structural integrity of such ropes can be inspected by using non-destructive ultrasonic techniques. The objective of this work was to investigate propagation of ultrasonic guided waves (UGW) along composite multi-wire ropes in the cases of various types of acoustic contacts between neig...
متن کاملNon-destructive evaluation of seven wire strands using ultrasonic guided waves
Seven-wire strands are commonly used in civil-engineering structures such a cable-stayed bridges, pre-stressed concrete bridges or retaining walls structures. These civil engineering structures suffer from ageing and degradation due to corrosion and fatigue of structural steel members. Guided ultrasonic waves are potentially attractive tools for non destructive assessment of their integrity. Th...
متن کاملChirp Excitation of Ultrasonic Guided Waves (preprint)
Most ultrasonic guided wave methods require tone burst excitations to achieve some degree of mode purity. In addition, it is often desirable to acquire data using multiple frequencies, particularly during method development when the best frequency for a specific application is not known. However, this process is inconvenient and time-consuming, particularly if extensive signal averaging at each...
متن کاملNumerical analysis of ultrasonic guided waves propagation in highly attenuative viscoelastic material
The propagation of ultrasonic guided waves in viscoelastic isotropic material has been investigated. Based on the plane theory, a numerical model of the guided waves propagating is developed in the frequency domain by employing the SFEM (spectral finite element method). To verify the proposed method, thin bitumen on the steel substrate is examined and compared with the single plate in terms of ...
متن کاملOn the Piezoelectric Detection of Guided Ultrasonic Waves
In order to quantify the wave motion of guided ultrasonic waves, the characteristics of piezoelectric detectors, or ultrasonic transducers and acoustic emission sensors, have been evaluated systematically. Such guided waves are widely used in structural health monitoring and nondestructive evaluation, but methods of calibrating piezoelectric detectors have been inadequate. This study relied on ...
