چکیده
Abstract High school physics teachers have a difficult job to do. On the one hand, they are charged with contributing creation of scientifically literate society, while on other play pivotal role in recruitment future physicists. Given importance this dual role, might expect that training would be priority for any department. However, research suggests is often not case. While concerns been raised about teachers’ understanding content, less work has focussed sociocultural experiences learning environments trainees meet when undergraduate physics. This case study examines how sample trainee perceive content together engineering and bachelor students large, high-status, research-oriented The findings aim interest lecturers examining their own practice. We interviewed 17 physics, perceived relevance courses as teachers, affected learning. Here, we identified four central themes students’ experiences: (1) teacher programme invisibility, (2) passive classroom culture, (3) courses, (4) no incentive do well discuss illustrates potential struggles may encounter also suggest our used inform practice university who come contact comment structure organization education whole.

The Effect of Teaching History of Physics on Student-Teachers’ Understanding of the Process of Model Construction in Physics
To improve student teachers’ understanding of the process of model construction in Physics, it was hypothesized that teaching the history of Physics may be of help. To test this hypothesis, two groups of senior year female student-teachers in Teaching of Physics at one of the campuses of Farhangian University in Tehran were chosen: One group had passed a course on the history of Physics, while ...
متن کاملUndergraduate Physics Degree Programs
Physics is concerned with the most basic principles that underlie all phenomena in the universe. Physicists ask, “How does the world work?” They search for the most elementary particles; they seek understanding of the behavior of collections of particles ranging from quarks in nuclei and electrons in atoms to stars in galaxies; they strive for insights into the nature of space and time, and the...
متن کاملPre-service Physics Teachers and Physics Education Research
Training pre-service teachers requires, among other things, content knowledge, pedagogical skills and pedagogical content knowledge. Teacher preparation programs have little, if any spare time to add more courses/activities to their program. However, I argue in this paper that we, as educators, must enhance the amount of physics education research in our pre-service physics teacher training pro...

English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and English for Specific Purposes (ESP) are developing branches of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instruction in Iran. These branches have a marginal status in the tertiary education, and the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology’s high commission offers no clear guidance for selecting and developing basic academic instructional materials related...
متن کاملModeling Methodology for Physics Teachers
Scientific practice involves the construction, validation and application of scientific models, so science instruction should be designed to engage students in making and using models. Scientific models are coherent units of structured knowledge. They are used to organize factual information into coherent wholes, often by the coordinated use of general laws or principles. Therefore, the structu...
