چکیده

This study presents a numerical modelling framework based on complex variable meshless methods, which can accurately and efficiently track arbitrary crack paths in two-dimensional linear elastic solids. The key novelty of this work is that the proposed scheme enables direct element-free approximation for solutions fracture mechanics problems. moving least-squares with group simple polynomial basis applied to implement model, problems both stationary or progressive cracks are considered studied. effects choosing different definitions weighted error norm forms computational accuracy tip fields prediction analysed discussed. Five benchmark examples were studied demonstrate superiority present over standard Galerkin method tracking

Meshless Methods Coupled with Other Numerical Methods

Meshless or mesh-free (or shorten as MFree) methods have been proposed and achieved remarkable progress over the past few years. The idea of combining MFree methods with other existing numerical techniques such as the finite element method (FEM) and the boundary element method (BEM), is naturally of great interest in many practical applications. However, the shape functions used in some MFree m...

Modeling three-dimensional crack propagation—A comparison of crack path tracking strategies

The development of a new finite element technique for the simulation of discontinuous failure phenomena in three dimensions is the key objective of this study. In contrast to the widely used extended finite element technique, we apply a purely deformation-based strategy based on an independent interpolation of the deformation field on both sides of the discontinuity. This method has been applie...

Propagation of Crack in Linear Elastic Materials with Considering Crack Path Correction Factor

Modeling of crack propagation by a finite element method under mixed mode conditions is of prime importance in the fracture mechanics. This article describes an application of finite element method to the analysis of mixed mode crack growth in linear elastic fracture mechanics. Crack - growth process is simulated by an incremental crack-extension analysis based on the maximum principal stress c...

Combined Visibility and Surrounding Triangles Method for Simulation of Crack Discontinuities in Meshless Methods

In this paper a combined node searching algorithm for simulation of crack discontinuities in meshless methods called combined visibility and surrounding triangles CVT is proposed. The element free Galerkin EFG method is employed for stress analysis of cracked bodies. The proposed node searching algorithm is based on the combination of surrounding triangles and visibility methods; the surroundin...

Efficient endgames and path tracking methods

Path tracking is the fundamental computational tool in homotopy continuation and is therefore key in most algorithms in the emerging field of numerical algebraic geometry. Though the basic notions of predictor-corrector methods have been known for years, there is still much to be considered, particularly in the specialized algebraic setting of solving polynomial systems. This article considers ...
