The discovery of cosmic acceleration motivated extensive studies dynamical dark energy and modified gravity models. Of particular interest are the scalar-tensor theories, with a scalar field non-minimally coupled to matter. Cosmological constraints on these models often employ quasi-static approximation (QSA), in which dynamics perturbations is proportional perturbation matter density. Using QSA simplifies physical interpretation phenomenology results substantial savings computing time when deriving parameter constraints. Focusing symmetron model, well-motivated theory screening mechanism, we compare exact solution linearly perturbed equations those obtained under identify range model parameters for valid. We find that evolution background most important, namely, whether it dominated by Hubble friction or potential. This helps us derive criterion but same argument can be applied other theories generalized Brans-Dicke type. consider two scenarios, one where only couples all

Releasing scalar fields: cosmological simulations of scalar-tensor theories for gravity beyond the static approximation.
Several extensions of general relativity and high energy physics include scalar fields as extra degrees of freedom. In the search for predictions in the nonlinear regime of cosmological evolution, the community makes use of numerical simulations in which the quasistatic limit is assumed when solving the equation of motion of the scalar field. In this Letter, we propose a method to solve the ful...
متن کاملScintillation in scalar-tensor theories of gravity
We study the scintillation produced by time-varying gravitational fields within scalar-tensor theories of gravity. The problem is treated in the geometrical optics approximation for a very distant light source emitting quasi plane monochromatic electromagnetic waves. We obtain a general formula giving the time dependence of the photon flux received by a freely falling observer. In the weak-fiel...
متن کاملSome remarks on the genesis of scalar-tensor theories
Between 1941 and 1962, scalar-tensor theories of gravitation were suggested four times by different scientists in four different countries. The earliest originator, the Swiss mathematician W. Scherrer, was virtually unknown until now whereas the chronologically latest pair gave their names to a multitude of publications on Brans–Dicke theory. P. Jordan, one of the pioneers of quantum mechanics ...

We study static black hole solutions in scalar tensor gravity. We present exact solutions in hiperextended models with a quadratic scalar potential. On leave from: Departamento de F́ısica da Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade do Porto, Rua do Campo Alegre 687, 4169-007 Porto, Portugal
متن کاملBEST APPROXIMATION IN QUASI TENSOR PRODUCT SPACE AND DIRECT SUM OF LATTICE NORMED SPACES
We study the theory of best approximation in tensor product and the direct sum of some lattice normed spacesX_{i}. We introduce quasi tensor product space anddiscuss about the relation between tensor product space and thisnew space which we denote it by X boxtimesY. We investigate best approximation in direct sum of lattice normed spaces by elements which are not necessarily downwardor upward a...
