چکیده

Objective and Impact Statement. There is a need to develop platforms delineating inflammatory biology of the distal human lung. We describe platform technology approach detect in situ enzyme activity observe drug inhibition lung using combination matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) optical reporters, fibered confocal fluorescence microscopy (FCFM), bespoke delivery device. Introduction . The development new therapeutic agents hindered by lack vivo experimental methodologies that can rapidly evaluate biological or drug-target engagement patients. Methods optimised novel highly quenched molecular reporter (FIB One) developed translational pathway for in-human assessment. Results demonstrate specificity metalloproteases (MMPs) 2, 9, 13 probe dequenching within physiological levels MMPs feasibility imaging whole models preclinical settings. Subsequently, first-in-human exploratory medicine study patients with fibroproliferative disease, we demonstrate, through FCFM, MMP alveolar space measured FIB One increase (with pharmacological inhibition). Conclusion This enables methodology active target effects consequently may inform pathways.

BHV-1 Antigen Detection in Paraffinized Lung Sections of Pneumonic Sheep Lung Using Immunohistochemistry

Background: Respiratory tract infections caused by some viruses with cattle origin have been demonstrated in sheep and goats. OBJECTIVES: The main goal of this study was to determine Bovine Herpes virus type 1 BHV1antigen in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded lung tissue of pneumonic sheep, using immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining method. METHODS: For this purpose, the lungs of 4079 sheep, which...

Cystic Lung Disease in a Young man

A 32-year-old man was admitted in the Emergency Department with acute dyspnea secondary to spontaneous pneumothorax. He had history of spontaneous pneumothorax 2 years ago.He was active cigarette smoker (10 pack/year). The family history was unremarkable for lung diseases. Additionally, he had no systemic complaints. The lung HRCT revealed multiple bizarre-shaped cysts distributed in both lungs ...

Defensins and cathelicidins in inflammatory lung disease: beyond antimicrobial activity.

Innate immunity provides an effective first line of defence against infections. This is of particular importance in the lung, an organ that is exposed to a large number of pathogens that are inhaled. Antimicrobial peptides play an important role in the defence against these pathogens as effector molecules of innate immunity. These peptides are mainly produced by phagocytes and epithelial cells,...

Adenocarcinoma of the lung mimicking inflammatory lung disease with honeycombing.

Pulmonary adenocarcinoma of the lung and its variants are well-defined entities, since the recent WHO classification of lung tumours. However, scant descriptions have been allocated to associated stromal changes, such as prominent inflammation and fibrosis, which can overshadow a tumoral proliferation and masquerade as a benign reactive process and this has not been recognised as a histopatholo...

Statins and Pulmonary Hypertension in Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease

Chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD) is a chronic multisystem disease with a considerable burden. One of its most common complications is pulmonary artery hypertension (PAH). It has been demonstrated that the development of PAH is correlated with decreased quality of life and survival. Different medications have been proposed for the treatment of PAH, among which one can name statins. Howeve...
