Optimal Decision Making in Electrical Systems Using an Asset Risk Management Framework

In this paper, a methodology for optimal decision making electrical systems is addressed. This seeks to identify and prioritize the replacement maintenance of power asset fleet optimizing return investment. It fulfills objective by considering risk index, costs, company revenue. The index estimated predicted each using both its condition records evaluating consequence failure. quantified as probability failure asset, determined impact on whole system. Failure health scoring condition. evaluated objectives reliability (energy not supplied -ENS), environment, legality, finance Monte Carlo simulations an assumed period planning. Finally, was implemented in open-source library called PywerAPM assessing decisions, where proposed mathematical optimization problem solved. As benchmark, transformer New England IEEE 39 Bus System used. Condition were provided local utility compute transformer. Subsequently, contingency simulation performed estimate energy analysis 10 years. result, ranked according are entire fleet.
