Optimal techno-economic-environmental study of using renewable energy resources for Yanbu city

The world’s attention is increasingly focused on the growing need to diversify energy sources. Saudi Arabia under natural pressure seize opportunity in renewable sector. Since resources such as wind and solar are less expensive environmentally friendly, most countries like move away from use of fossil fuels. This paper focuses a techno-economic-environmental study supplying Yanbu city with hybrid system consisting energy, storage batteries. has been carried out by considering an off-grid or connected grid. In order find best solution technical, economic, environmental perspectives supply city, 15 options were considered. Photovoltaic (PV) turbines (WT) grid make up grid-connected system. considers development load profile for city. both systems, (ESS) essential (off-grid grid-connected). results show that 850-MW PV without ESS option economically technically.
