چکیده

This study is aimed at the optimization of calcined termite mound material incorporated in mortar and concrete using Response Surfaces Methodology (RSM). The substituting cement varied from 5 to 15% interval 5% concrete. Sikament NN was added 1.0 3.0 1.0. Test conducted on were: consistency setting times. For concrete, specimens were cast tested failure for all mixes curing periods 3, 7, 28, 60 90 days. Modelling carried out Design-Expert software version 11.0 with CTM (5%, 10% 15%) (1.0%, 2.0% 3.0%) levels taking as input variables. output responses consistency, times, compressive strength test after 90days curing. Comparison made performance blended controls terms times strengths. Results analysis variance (ANOVA) indicate that both are influential variable developed models RSM statistically significant factor levels. optimum mix obtained by addition 2.09 % replacement 0.871 desirability. In 2.05 desirability optimum.

Optimization of Mortar Phase in Concrete – Using Particle Packing Concept

Submitted: Jul 2, 2013; Accepted: Aug 12, 2013; Published: Aug 29, 2013 Abstract: Concrete mix design involves determination of relative proportions of powder contained in the binder system, granular aggregates and water. The theory of particle packing (TPP) concepts can be used for rational proportioning of concrete mixtures analytically based on the measured properties of individual ingredien...

Photocatalytic Removal of Amaranth Optimization Using Response Surface Methodology

Since Amaranth (AM) is one of the dye compounds which is harmful to human’s life its removal from industrial waste water would reduce their environmental impact and health effect. Copper nanoparticle (CuNP) is a simple and eco-friendly material which can be used to remove this pollutant. In this paper, copper nanoparticles were synthesized, for removal of AM dye. The experiments were designed b...

Termite mound lungs driven by solar power

At first glance, a towering termite mound might look like a bustling insect skyscraper, but the insect megalopolis that is home to hundreds of thousands of termites is buried in the ground beneath. For decades, termite mounds had been thought to regulate the climate of their colony; however, Scott Turner, from the State University of New York (SUNY), Syracuse, USA, had suggested that they worke...
