Optimization of cotton fabrics dyeing process using various natural dye extracts

A B S T R C TEfforts to substitute synthetic dyes on fabrics for natural are currently increasing. Research and innovation extremely needed support those attempts so that the quality of is more competitive than dyes. This study aims optimize dyeing parameters cotton using dye extracts derived from barks Tegeran (Cudrania javanensis), Merbau (Intsia bijuga), Tingi (Ceriops tagal), Jambal (Peltophorum pterocarpum), as well Jolawe (Terminalia bellirica) fruit peel. Varied included concentration, time temperature, material liquor ratio (MLR). The fixative solutions used were alum, lime, iron (II) sulfate. optimized based values color depth evenness, measured colorimetrically. Furthermore, obtained results process under conditions analyzed by measuring coordinates strength (K/S), washing fastness, light fastness. showed optimal all code extract concentrations (0.0113 g/mL Tegeran; 0.0115 Merbau; 0.0204 Jambal; 0.0582 Jolawe), at 28°C, 30 minutes, MLR 1:30. resulting variations brown, gray, golden yellow with alum fixative. highest K/S value was 5.56 fabric dyed in sulfate solution. fastness Merbau, Tingi, Jambal, 3-4 (fairly good) 4-5 (excellent). Selanjutnya hasil kondisi teroptimasi dianalisis melalui pengukuran koordinat warna, kekuatan warna(K/S), tahan luntur pencucian cahaya. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa semua kode (0,0113 0,0115 0,0204 0,0582 kamar, menit, Variasi dihasilkan cokelat, abu-abu, kuning emas tegeran tawas.
