Optimizing Row Spacing Increases Stalk Lodging Resistance by Improving Light Distribution in Dense Maize Populations

نویسندگان

چکیده

Dense planting effectively increases maize yield while increasing stalk lodging risk. Appropriate row spacing can improve the population structure and resistance, but its physiological ecological mechanisms interaction with density are unclear. Here, a two-year field experiment to determine joint effects of on stem characteristics quantitative relationship light condition within resistance indicated that mechanical strength showed quadratic function photosynthetically active radiation (PAR), whereas rate an exponential basal transmittance (LT). Further, LT was significantly positively correlated internode thickness, dry weight per unit length (DWUL), cortical tissue lignin cellulose contents. Increasing decreased PAR; correspondingly DWUL, contents, strength; increased rate, did opposite. Thus, optimizing enhanced through PAR improvement lower part further grain by components. The appropriate varied density. proper strategy for high yielding under this experimental 67,500 plants ha?1 60 + cm equal spacing.

Optimizing Disparity Candidates Space in Dense Stereo Matching

In this paper, a new approach for optimizing disparity candidates space is proposed for the solution of dense stereo matching problem. The main objectives of this approachare the reduction of average number of disparity candidates per pixel with low computational cost and high assurance of retaining the correct answer. These can be realized due to the effective use of multiple radial windows, i...

Improving walking-robot performances by optimizing leg distribution

Walking-robot technology has already achieved an important stage of development, as demonstrated in a few real applications. However, walking robots still need further improvement if they are to compete with traditional vehicles. A potential improvement could be made through optimization at design time. A better distribution of the legs around a robot’s body can help decrease actuator size in t...

Growth and Yield of Maize (zea Mays L.) as Affected by Row Spacing and Weed Competition Durations

A field experiment was conducted for two consecutive years (2003 and 2004) to study the effect of row spacing (75, 65 and 55cm) and different weed competition durations (0, 15,30,45,60 days after emergence and throughout the growth period) on weeds density and biomass and growth and yield of maize. Reducing row spacing significantly suppressed the weed density and biomass. The maximum reduction...
