Outcome of Injection Botulinum Toxin in Blepharospasm

Introduction: Blepharospasm is a condition of involuntary spasm the orbicularis oculi muscle which leads to intermittent or complete closure eyelids. Botulinum toxin currently recommended first line treatment for such blepharospasm. This study aims find out outcome injection Type A in Blepharospasm.
 Materials and methods: It was hospital based, prospective, interventional conducted on patients diagnosed as Benign essential blepharospasm (BEB), Meige syndrome (MS) Hemifacial (HFS) by oculoplastic surgeon at Oculoplasty department OPD, Tilganga Institute Ophthalmology, from December 2018 November 2019. After taking all standard precautions botulinum injections, 6 8 sites injecting 2.5 5 IU were given. All evaluated before after injections according Jankovic grading improvement functional impairment scale followed one week, month, three month when symptoms reappeared. 
 Results: total 43 cases included 32 Blepharospasm, 9 2 syndrome. The mean severity score 3.51 ± 0.51 (range 3-4). 2.60 0.54 1-3), statistically significant (p-value <0.001).The effective period 130 20.82 (93 – 189) days.38 had repeated reappearance symptoms. 4 side effects redness hematoma site. Conclusion: concludes that type management blepharospasm, along with good safety profile justifies its role therapy However, it temporary option where effect lasts short time are required.
