چکیده

Background: To review the outcome of high-risk geriatrics with unstable pertrochanteric fractures treated external fixator. Methods: Eighteen consecutive patients were operated fixator by using closed reduction technique. AO type, accompanying diseases, operating time, transfused blood units, duration hospitalization, complications, healing time and mortality recorded. Patients followed clinically radiologically for two years at least. The Harris Hip Score was used to document hip function each regular follow-up. Results: Fifteen average age 71.5 available final evaluation. mean 41.1 min union achieved in all cases an 16 weeks. one, three, six, twelve twenty-four months postoperatively 42.07 ± 8.55; 55.07 11.62; 70.07 10.32; 86.27 9.06 89.27 8.81 respectively. Complications included undergoing loss some motion knee four them had experience revision surgery because stiffness, ten pin-tract infections, seven deep venous thrombosis, migration screws limb shortening Conclusions: use geriatric provided a satisfactory long term efficacy, but short functional results quite unsatisfactory owing high complication rate. Therefore, advantages disadvantages should be fully weighed when fixators, which especially suitable those who could not tolerate prolonged operative open surgery.

Effect of Teriparatide on Unstable Pertrochanteric Fractures

We retrospectively analyzed the radiographic and clinical outcomes of unstable pertrochanteric fractures (AO/OTA 31-A2) in 44 patients who underwent dynamic hip screw (DHS) fixation and compared the results with 29 patients who received teriparatide in addition to DHS fixation. A significantly shorter time for fracture healing was recorded in the teriparatide-treated group than in the control g...

The functional outcome of surgically treated unstable pelvic ring fractures by open reduction, internal fixation

Abstract Background: Unstable Pelvic fracture, a result of high energy antero-posterior compression injury, has been managed based on internal fixation and open reduction. The mode of fixation in Unstable Pelvic fracture has, however, been a subject of controversy and some authors have proposed a need to address the issue of partial breach of the pelvic ring elements in these injuries. This st...

Design of External Fixators Applied to the Treatment of Open and Unstable Fractures

This paper focuses on the probabilistic numerical solution of the problems in biomechanics and mining. Applications of Simulation-Based Reliability Assessment (SBRA) Method are presented in the solution of designing of the external fixators applied in traumatology and orthopaedics (these fixators can be applied for the treatment of open and unstable fractures etc.) and in the solution of a hard...

Imaging of fractures with external fixators using flexible cassettes.

Manufacturers are now producing components made of radiolucent material, but these are expensive. and may not be available to all surgeons. We have used panoramic radiography products (Kodak Dental Products Catalog and Reference Guide 199 1). as used by dental surgeons for the mandible, to image fractures in some forms of external fixation (Fig. Ib). The range of products includes small films a...

Functional Results of Unstable (Type 2) Distal Clavicle Fractures Treated with Superior Anterior Locking Plate

Background: The treatment of distal clavicle fracture is always a challenge, as it is mostly unstable and has higherrate of delayed union, malunion, non-union and associated acromioclavicular arthritis. So the management of thesefractures remains controversial. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the functional results of Type 2 distal endclavicle fractures treated with superior anterior l...
