Overview of networked supervisory control with imperfect communication channels

This paper presents an overview of the networked supervisory control frameworks for discrete event systems with imperfect communication networks, which are divided into centralized setup, decentralized setup and distributed setup. The state-of-the-art works on discrete-event addressing channel imperfections that caused by delays, data losses or non-FIFO channels discussed. By presenting key concepts main results each representative work, we analyze pros cons different approaches. Finally, also provide a summary existing works, roughly follow two lines thinking result in verification synthesis first approach utilizes simple, non-networked plant models but relies development sophisticated network controllability observability to capture imperfections, while second embeds relatively complex yet verifiable model adopts standard (verification and) supervisors. Some future research topics presented.
