چکیده
Abstract Background Patients with primary brain tumors frequently suffer from cognitive impairments in multiple domains, leading to serious consequences for socio-professional functioning and quality of life. The functional-anatomical basis these is still poorly understood. study correlated BOLD activity the (i.e. functional connectivity) has greatly contributed our understanding how supports function. In particular, observed during execution specific tasks can be related various distributed networks, stressing importance interactions between remote regions. Among Default Mode Network (DMN) Fronto-Parietal (FPN) have consistently been associated working memory performance. Recently, using task-fMRI glioma patients, poor performance a task was less deactivation DMN this lack task-evoked changes DMN-FPN structure. study, we investigated whether effects are reflected resting-state (RS) connectivity same patient group, i.e. when no performed fMRI. We additionally zoomed on part FPN located dorsolateral Prefrontal Cortex (dlPFC), since region believed mainly responsible deactivation. Material Methods Resting-state MRI data were acquired pre-operatively 45 tumor patients (20 low- 25 high-grade patients). Results pre-operative in-scanner N-back fMRI used assess Patient brains parcellated into ROIs both Gordon Yeo atlas, which network identities readily available. dlPFC defined based masks retrieved NeuroSynth. To measure average Pearson correlation activation time series regions belonging calculated. Functional calculated similar way. right negatively atlas (p < 0.003) 0.007). No association found left DMN, nor whole DMN. Conclusion Our findings show that networks measured Furthermore, results provide further evidence not only important performance, but also large-scale should considered.

Patients suffering from Parkinson's disease (PD) often show impairments in executive function (EF) like decision-making and action control. The right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (dlPFC) has been strongly implicated in EF in healthy subjects and has repeatedly been reported to show alterations related to EF impairment in PD. Recently, two key regions for cognitive action control have been ide...
