چکیده

Abstract Objectives There is currently no way to estimate the period of time a person has had obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). Such information important in both clinical and research settings as it would allow identification people who have experienced OSA for an extended period. People are therefore, at greater risk range other medical disorders; enable consideration length disease study pathogenesis or treatments. Method The ‘age Onset’ algorithm’ (OSA-Onset) was developed participants Wisconsin Sleep Cohort (WSC) ≥2 studies were not using continuous positive airway pressure (n=696). algorithm tested subsets from WSC (n=154) Heart Health Study (SHHS; n=705) initial showing (apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) <15 events/hr) later presence (AHI≥15 events/hr). Results Regression analyses performed identify variables that significantly predicted change AHI over (BMI, sex, AHI) beta weights intercept used subsequent algorithm. In SHHS subsamples, OSA-onset able onset with mean absolute error 7.8 5.5 years, respectively. Conclusions Future needed determine whether years exposure derived OSA-Onset related worse prognosis, poorer cognitive outcomes, and/or response therapy.

Nasal CPAP in OSA

N asal continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is the primary treatment for symptomatic patients with obstructive sleep apnoeahypopnoea (OSAH). The best method for determining the optimal CPAP pressure is an ongoing subject of scrutiny. Both the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the American Thoracic Society recommend supervised CPAP titration during overnight polysomnography, based on ...
