Pair density wave and loop current promoted by Van Hove singularities in moiré systems

چکیده

We theoretically show that in the presence of conventional or higher order van Hove singularities(VHS), bare finite momentum pairing, also known as pair density wave (PDW), susceptibility can be promoted to same most divergent BCS through a valley-contrasting flux 3$\phi$ each triangular plaquette at $\phi=\frac{\pi}{3}$ and $\phi=\frac{\pi}{6}$ moir\'e systems. This makes PDW possible leading instability for an electronic system with repulsive interactions. confirm it indeed wins over all other instabilities becomes ground state under certain conditions renormalization group calculation insertion argument. Moreover, we find topological nontrivial loop current if Fermi surface VHS is perfectly nested $\phi=\frac{\pi}{3}$. Similar Haldane model, this has quantum anomalous Hall effect. If dope introduce next-nearest neighbour hopping $t^{\prime}$, chiral $d$-wave dominant instability. Experimentally, effectively tuned by out-of-plane electric field systems based on graphene transition metal dichalcogenides.

Abrupt current switching in graphene bilayer tunnel transistors enabled by van Hove singularities

In a continuous search for the energy-efficient electronic switches, a great attention is focused on tunnel field-effect transistors (TFETs) demonstrating an abrupt dependence of the source-drain current on the gate voltage. Among all TFETs, those based on one-dimensional (1D) semiconductors exhibit the steepest current switching due to the singular density of states near the band edges, though...

van Hove singularities and vortex motion in superconductors

When vortices move in a type-II superconductor under the action of an electric current, they interact with the crystal lattice generating acoustic waves. This results in a radiation-friction component to the vortex dissipation, which peaks at values of vortex velocity where there are phonons in the Brillouin zone of the crystal with matching phase and group velocities ~the van Hove condition!. ...

Observation of Van Hove singularities in twisted graphene layers

Electronic instabilities at the crossing of the Fermi energy with a Van Hove singularity1 in the density of states often lead to new phases of matter such as superconductivity2,3, magnetism4 or density waves5. However, in most materials this condition is difficult to control. In the case of single-layer graphene, the singularity is too far from the Fermi energy6 and hence difficult to reach wit...

Observation of van Hove Singularities in Twisted Silicene Multilayers

Interlayer interactions perturb the electronic structure of two-dimensional materials and lead to new physical phenomena, such as van Hove singularities and Hofstadter's butterfly pattern. Silicene, the recently discovered two-dimensional form of silicon, is quite unique, in that silicon atoms adopt competing sp(2) and sp(3) hybridization states leading to a low-buckled structure promising rela...

Magnetic fluctuations and itinerant ferromagnetism in two-dimentional systems with van Hove singularities

We use the quasistatic approach to analyze the criterion of ferromagnetism for two-dimentional (2D) systems with the Fermi level near Van Hove singularities (VHS) of the electronic spectrum. It is shown that the spectrum of spin excitations (paramagnons) is positively defined when the interaction I between electrons and paramagnons, which corresponds to the Hubbard on-site repulsion U , is suff...
