PALYNOLOGICAL INVESTIGATION OF THE OLIGOCENE SEDIMENT IN EAST JAVA SEA

The palynological study of the Oligocene sediments is based on cutting samples collected from exploration wells which are drilled in East Java Sea. occurrence pollen Meyeripollis naharkotensis along well sections suggests zone equivalent to age. This supported by regular marker trilete spore Cicatricosisporites dorogensis studied sections. In addition, foraminiferal and nannoplankton analyses confirm age identifying letter stage Tc- Te4 nanno NP21-NP25. On other hand, most palynomorphs marking Eocene disappear as they stratigraphically older than sediments. Unlike sediment West Central Sumatra was formed freshwater swamp or lake under dry climate condition, deposited transition shallow marine environment indicated moderate diversity dinoflagellates coupled with frequent limestone Furthermore, appearance back-mangrove Spinizonocolpites echinatus throughout supports indication influence.
