Ruthenium(II) polypyridyl complexes as carriers for DNA delivery.
Two novel water soluble ruthenium(II) complexes [Ru(bpy)(2)(bqbg)](2+) and [Ru(phen)(2)(bqbg)](2+) have been structurally characterized and their DNA condensation activity, cytotoxicity, and cellular uptake studies of DNA condensates as potential non-viral DNA carriers were evaluated.

Tuberculosis is one of the world's deadliest infectious disease with 1.5 millions deaths annually. It is imperative to discover novel compounds with potent activity against M. tuberculosis. In this study, susceptibilities of M. smegmatis to the octahedral ruthenium(II) polypyridyl complexes, 1 {[(bpy)3Ru] (PF6)2 (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine)}, 2 {[(phen)2Ru(dppz)](PF6)2 (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, d...

Two polypyridyl copper(II) complexes, [Cu(phen)(phen-dione)Cl]Cl (1) and [Cu(bpy) (phen-dione)Cl]Cl (2), (where Phen =1,10-phenanthroline, bpy =2,2'-bipyridine and Phen-dione = 1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-dione), were used as efficient catalysts for the oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde. The effects of various parameters such as reaction temperature, reaction time, etc. were studied. The ...
متن کاملLanthanoid β-triketonates: a new class of highly efficient NIR emitters for bright NIR-OLEDs.
The reaction of hydrated YbCl3 with potassium tribenzoylmethanide yields a new bimetallic tetranuclear Yb(3+)/K(+) assembly. This species not only possesses the longest excited state lifetime and quantum yield reported for the Yb(3+) diketonate family but is also suitable to be incorporated in NIR-OLEDs, whose performance outclasses any other reported lanthanoid-based device with NIR emission.
متن کاملRuthenium polypyridyl complexes as inducer of ROS-mediated apoptosis in cancer cells by targeting thioredoxin reductase.
TrxR is an NADPH-dependent selenoenzyme upregulated in a number of cancers. It plays a pivotal role in cancer progression and represents an increasingly attractive target for anticancer drugs. The limitations of cisplatin in cancer treatment have motivated the extensive investigation to other metal complexes, especially ruthenium (Ru) complexes. In this study, we present the in vitro biological...
