Parameter identification of a drill string is studied. The system modeled as hyperbolic with dynamical boundary conditions. considered model wave equation spatial dependent elasticity and viscous damping terms. problem recast an optimization over infinite-dimensional space. developed approach ensures that the estimates parameters lie in given set. A gradient descent-based algorithm proposed to generate parameter based on experimental data. thorough comparative study more classical algorithms presented.
