Patient‐specific simulation of brain tumour growth and regression

چکیده
The medical relevance of brain tumours is characterised by its locally invasive and destructive growth. With a high mortality rate combined with short remaining life expectancy, are identified as highly malignant. A continuum-mechanical model for the description governing processes growth regression derived in framework Theory Porous Media (TPM). based on multi-modal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans, which represent gold standard diagnosis. multi-phase described mathematically via strongly coupled partial differential equations. This set equations transformed into their weak formulation solved software package FEniCS. proof-of-concept simulation one patient geometry tumour pathology shows relevant results discussed.
