Pattern of Rectal Cancer Recurrence Following Potentially Curative Surgical Treatment

Abstract Survival in rectal cancer has been related mainly to clinical and pathological staging. Recurrence is the most challenging issue when surgical treatment of concerned. This study aims establish a recurrence pattern for adenocarcinoma submitted between June 2003 July 2021. After applying exclusion criteria 305 patients, 166 patients were analyzed. Global was found 18.7% them, while 7.8% have had local recurrence. Recurrences diagnosed from 5 92 months after procedure, with median 32.5 months. Follow-up varied 6 115 Recurrence, literature, usually 3 35% years shows 5-year survival rate only 5%. In around 50% cases, local, confined pelvis. consonant literature aspects evaluated, although high remains challenge seeking better outcomes.
