چکیده
Although concentrically braced frame (CBF) systems enjoy high elastic stiffness and lateral strength, they show a low seismic energy absorption capacity. This dilemma is due to the buckling of CBFs’ diagonal members under compressive loading. To overcome shortcoming, researchers have proposed use dampers improve behavior CBF systems. Among dampers, metallic shear damper most popular thanks its suitable performance as well economic profit. The main shortcoming stiffness. Therefore, in this article, an innovative approach dampers. Subsequently, strengthening with X-stiffeners proposed, evaluated numerically parametrically. Results indicate that by adding X-stiffeners, ultimate strength are enhanced considerably. However, properties stiffeners do not impact nonlinear zone. Moreover, affected parameters such ratio web plate flange plates, ρ factor. consider predict damper, required equations which demonstrate good agreement finite element results.

The experience of past prominent earthquakes establishes the fact that the structure’s catastrophes and casualties can be dramatically decreased through the use of self-centering systems. A promising post-tensioned self-centering yielding braced system (PT-SCYBS) has been developed, comprising of two main components, including the post-tensioned wires, exhibiting the desirable self-centering pr...
متن کاملThe Effect of Frame Geometry on the Seismic Response of Self-Centering Concentrically- Braced Frames
Conventional concentrically-braced frame (CBF) systems have limited drift capacity before brace buckling and related damage leads to deterioration in strength and stiffness. Self-centering concentrically-braced frame (SC-CBF) systems have been developed to increase drift capacity prior to initiation of damage and minimize residual drift. SC-CBFs differ from conventional CBFs in that the SC-CBF ...

متن کاملConcentrically Braced Frames: European vs. North American Seismic Design Provisions
A critical review of seismic design provisions for concentrically braced frames (CBFs) in both European and North American (i.e. US and Canadian) codes is presented in this paper. Indeed, even though those codes are based on capacity design philosophy, different requirements and different approaches are used to guarantee the hierarchy of resistances between dissipative and non-dissipative eleme...
متن کاملPerformance Evaluation of Curved-TADAS Damper on Seismic Response of Moment Resisting Steel Frame
In this study, the performance of triangular added damping and stiffness (TADAS) dampers combined with curved dampers (Curved-TADAS damper) is evaluated in moment resisting steel frame (MRSF). These dampers are passive and install in the beam-column connection region. Variable parameters of this study involve the width of curved damper (50, 75 and 100 mm), the thickness of TADAS damper (5 and 1...
