Permutation tests for mixed paired and two-sample designs
نویسندگان
چکیده
Permutation tests based on previously developed statistics are proposed for the case of mixed paired and two-sample designs. Different weighting schemes previous explored to understand strengths weaknesses each test. A simulation study compares power Type I error rates new with those developed. Rank-based generally performed as well or better than parametric statistics, particularly nonnormal distributions.

Comparing the predictive values of diagnostic tests: sample size and analysis for paired study designs.
BACKGROUND Although statistical methodology is well developed for comparing diagnostic tests in terms of their sensitivities and specificities, comparative inference about predictive values is not. PURPOSE In this paper we consider the design and analysis of studies comparing the positive and negative predictive values of two diagnostic tests that are measured on all subjects. METHODS We fo...
متن کاملBayesian two-sample tests
In this paper, we present two classes of Bayesian approaches to the twosample problem. Our first class of methods extends the Bayesian t-test to include all parametric models in the exponential family and their conjugate priors. Our second class of methods uses Dirichlet process mixtures (DPM) of such conjugate-exponential distributions as flexible nonparametric priors over the unknown distribu...
متن کاملAsymptotically Valid and Exact Permutation Tests Based on Two-sample U-statistics
The two-sample Wilcoxon test has been widely used in a broad range of scientific research, including economics, due to its good efficiency, robustness against parametric distributional assumptions, and the simplicity with which it can be performed. While the two-sample Wilcoxon test, by virtue of being both a rank and hence a permutation test, controls the exact probability of a Type 1 error un...
متن کاملTests for Paired Means
The one-sample paired t-test may be used to test whether the mean difference of two populations is greater than, less than, or not equal to a specific value. Because the t distribution is used to calculate critical values for the test, this test is often called the paired t-test. If the standard deviation of the differences is known, the normal distribution is used instead of the t distribution...
