More and larger blast furnaces have been constructed for ironmaking across the world in recent years due to advantages of high productivity, energy efficiency low cost. Slag plays important role a furnace produce high-quality hot metal maintain smooth operations. Liquidus temperatures are essential information slag avoid formation solid phase during process tapping. The principal components iron slags can be described by system CaO-MgO-Al2O3-SiO2. With significant changes raw materials different requirements operations, equilibria this extensively investigated from directions. Phase diagrams were presented various pseudo-ternary pseudo-binary forms meet wide applications. Reliable thermodynamic modelling is target researchers which predict accurate liquidus slag. Development reliable relies on systematic experimental data including compositions solutions. Experimental CaO-MgO-Al2O3-SiO2 summarised compared with predictions provide operators.
