Phase shifters with multiple independently controllable bands utilising frequency‐selective variable gain networks

A dual-band vector-sum phase shifter with independent control of the 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi bands is presented. The network uses band-limited variable gain amplification, a broadband hybrid coupler at input an in-phase recombiner output. circuit prototyped on RF printed board exhibits performance characteristics comparable to state-of-the-art single band shifters. prototype achieved average 2.16 dB over band, less than 0.26 1.32° root-mean-square (RMS) error across all tuning states. In 0.17 achieved, 0.21 3.88° RMS error. network's ability generate band-independent vector modulation 12 dB/90° range demonstrated as well, achieving 0.12 0.27° in 0.27 2.94° band.
