Phosphorene and other layered pnictogens as a new source of 2D materials for electrochemical sensors

Following the great success of graphene as a versatile 2D nanomaterial for design electrochemical sensors, this review focuses on synthesis, characterization, and sensing applications alternative layered structures produced with elements group VA, also known “pnictogens.” Among these, phosphorene nanosheets generated from black phosphorous (BP) is by far most popular pnictogen; however, bismuthene antimonene are gaining interest in sensors. A perspective given to properties various pnictogens factors affecting their stability, which influence abilities. Examples using arsenene still relatively sparse not an attractive material biosensing due its acute toxicity. Tables meaningful information available literature presented.
