Abstract The Brazilian Cerrado biome consists of a great variety endemic species with several bioactive compounds, and Anadenanthera peregrina (L.) Speg is promising species. In this study, we aimed to perform phytochemical characterization evaluate the antioxidant antibacterial activities against Staphylococcus aureus Escherichia coli hydroethanolic extract A. stem bark. barks were collected in Botanical Garden Goiânia, Brazil. was obtained by percolation subjected physicochemical screening, total phenolic content estimation, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) fingerprinting, (IC50 values calculated for 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl assay - DPPH) activity determination. pH 5.21 density 0.956 g/cm3. screening indicated presence cardiac glycosides, organic acids, reducing sugars, hemolytic saponins, phenols, coumarins, condensed tannins, flavonoids, catechins, depsides, depsidones derived from benzoquinones. showed intense activity. 6.40 g GAE 100 g-1. HPLC fingerprinting analysis revealed gallic acid, catechin, epicatechin. We confirmed extract. Furthermore, did not inhibit growth E. colonies at any volume tested, but there halos around S. all three volumes tested.
