چکیده
Abstract The ability to reconstruct a missing event create coherent interpretation – bridging inference is central understanding both real-world events and visual narratives like comics. Most previous work on narrative inferencing has focused fully omitted events, yet few have compared generation when climactic become replaced with panel employing numerous inferential techniques (e.g., action stars or onomatopoeia). These implicitly express the unseen while balancing several underlying features that describe their informativeness. Here, we examine whether processing resolution differ across in two self-paced reading experiments. Experiment 1 directly five distinct types, 2 explored effect of combining techniques. In experiments, differences arise between themselves, at subsequent panels allowing be resolved. Analysis suggested explicitness technique led greater demand processing, which later facilitated comprehensibility. findings reinforce necessity discussing diversity patterns motivating inferences within narratives.

Juvenile idiopathic arthritis is a debilitating condition consisting of several categories of arthritis. Early detection, accurate diagnosis and monitoring of changes upon treatment are critical in order to minimize long-term sequelae. Imaging modalities, such as radiography, ultrasound and MRI are commonly employed to evaluate synovial inflammation, joint effusion, bone erosions and other dise...
متن کاملPicture Perfect: Visualisation Techniques for Case-based Reasoning
Case-based reasoning systems solve new problems by retrieving and adapting the solutions to similar previously solved problems. The success and performance of any case-based reasoning system depends critically on its repository of prior problem solving experiences, the cases in its case-base. It is perhaps surprising then that the case-based reasoning community has only recently begun to invest...
متن کاملRhetorical Structure Analysis of EFLs’ Written Narratives of a Picture Story
This study was set to reveal how second language learners use rhetorical relations in their written narratives in terms of Rhetorical Structure Theory (RST) primarily proposed by Mann & Thompson (1987) and developed by Mann, Matthiessen & Thompson (1992). To this end, sixty written narratives based on the picture story book ‘Frog, where are you?’ were collected from EFL learners and were put to...
متن کاملThe role of illustrations in children's inferential comprehension.
Illustrations are a salient source of information in children's books, yet their effect on children's reading comprehension has been studied only through literal factual recall. The purpose of the current study was to determine the effect of illustrations on bridging inferences, an important aspect of meaning making in comprehension models. Identical short stories were presented under different...
