Porothermoelastic Response of a Borehole in Fluid-Saturated Medium Subjected to Thermal Osmosis Effect

With the thermo-hydro-mechanical coupling process considered, this paper derives a set of analytical porothermoelastic solutions to field variables including stress, displacement, and pore pressure fields evaluate wellbore stability around vertical borehole drilled through an isotropic porous rock. The thermal effect on low-permeability saturated rock also introduces osmosis term. problem is decomposed into axisymmetric deviatoric loading cases considering subjected nonhydrostatic stress field. It obtains time-dependent distributions by performing inversion technique for Laplace transforms in domain. results suggest that should not be neglected premise lower permeability characterized substantially large osmotic coefficient small diffusivity values. case reduces undrained leads decrease mean shear determined effective maximum minimum borehole, since, accordingly contributes resist failure.
