چکیده
Background: Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a multisystem, connective tissue disorder characterized by fibrosis of the skin and internal organ involvement, which can influence all aspects life, including sexual life. Objectives: This study aimed to compare function in patients with SSc age-/sex-matched healthy controls (HC) determine potential impact clinical features on function. Methods: In total, 90 women (mean age: 49.1, disease duration: 6.1 years, lcSSc/dcSSc: 62/28, mRSS: 9.3, ESSG activity index: 2.1), who fulfilled ACR/EULAR 2013 criteria, 49.1) without rheumatic diseases filled 12 well-established validated questionnaires assessing (FSFI, BISF-W, SFQ-28, SQoL-F), pelvic floor (PISQ-12, PFIQ-7), fatigue (FIS, Fatigue Impact Scale), physical (HAP, Human Activity Profile), disability (HAQ, Health Assessment Questionnaire), depression (BDI-II, Beck’s Depression Inventory-II) quality life (SF-36, Medical outcomes Short Form 36 – PCS, Physical Component Summary; MCS, Mental Summary). A routine laboratory testing was performed. Data are presented as median (IQR). Results: Patients reported significantly greater prevalence severity dysfunction SFQ28 subscales well total scores), worse (SQoL-F) PFIQ-7) compared HC (table 1). The according FSFI cut-off score 77%. Worse scores were associated longer duration [BISF-W-total (r=-0.243,p=0.026), FSFI-lubrication (r=-0.229,p=0.035)], higher [ESSG BISF-W-total (r=-0.291,p=0.010), FSFI-arousal (r=-0.299,p=0.007)], increased inflammation [CRP: BISF-W-receptivity/initiation (r=-0.301,p=0.007)], more pronounced [FIS-total: (r=-0.412,p<0.0001)], severe [BDI-II: FSFI-total (r=-0.506,p<0.0001), SQoL-F (r=-0.369, p<0.0001)], functional [HAQ: (r=-0.394,p<0.0001)], reduced [HAP: (r=0.535,p<0.0001)], decreased overall [SF-36 PCS: (r=0.428,p<0.0001), SF-36 MCS: (r=0.472, p<0.0001)]. Skin reaction to capsaicin in patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus compared to that in healthy controls
Background: The interaction between nervous and immune systems has been under investigation. Transient receptor potential vanilloid type 1(TRPV1) is a ligand gated calcium channel expressed by sensory neurons which mediates neurogenic inflammatory response. Substance p which can be released following exposure to capsaicin is a TRPV1 inducer, shown to have altered concentration and function in m...

متن کاملReview Paper: Evaluation of Balance in Patients With Knee Osteoarthritis Compared to Healthy Controls
Purpose: Over the past 20 years, the center of pressure (COP) has been commonly used as an index of postural stability in standing. While many studies investigated COP excursions in patients with knee osteoarthritis and healthy individuals, no comprehensive analysis of the differences in their postural sway pattern exists. The present study aimed to review the previously published studies conce...

Introduction: Psoriasis is an inflammatory skin disease in which abnormal individual immune reactivity plays an important role. Eselectin and P-selectin are adhesion molecules expressed on vascular endothelial cells in several inflammatory skin diseases, including psoriasis. The aim of the present study was to describe selected immunological changes, concerning adhesion molecules status (sEsele...
متن کاملSexual Activity and Impairment in Women with Systemic Sclerosis Compared to Women from a General Population Sample
OBJECTIVE Reports of low sexual activity rates and high impairment rates among women with chronic diseases have not included comparisons to general population data. The objective of this study was to compare sexual activity and impairment rates of women with systemic sclerosis (SSc) to general population data and to identify domains of sexual function driving impairment in SSc. METHODS Canadi...
