Possibilities of Using Zeolites Synthesized from Fly Ash in Adsorption Chillers

چکیده

Adsorption chillers produce cold energy, using heat instead of electricity, thus reducing electrical energy consumption. A major industrial waste, fly ash, can be converted to zeolite and used in adsorption as an adsorbent. In this research, three different types zeolites were synthesised from ash via a hydrothermal reaction alkaline solution (NaOH). The obtained samples (Na-A zeolites) modified with K2CO3 increase the water capacity these samples. Phase morphology analyses shows that desired formed properly but other crystalline phases also exist along nonporous amorphous phases. determined specific surface areas for Na-A (12 h) (24 are 45 m2/g 185 respectively, while area synthesized 13X is almost negligible. Water-isotherm each was measured. Considering application chillers, average very low, 1.73% 1.27%, two most probable operating conditions zeolite, whereas no available evaporation h). This analysis implies among materials only has potential adsorber sorption chillers.

Utilization of zeolites synthesized from coal fly ash for the purification of acid mine waters.

Two pilot plant products containing 65 and 45% NaP1 zeolite were obtained from two Spanish coal fly ashes (Narcea and Teruel Power Station, respectively). The zeolitic product obtained showed a cation exchange capacity (CEC) of 2.7 and 2.0 mequiv/g, respectively. Decontamination tests of three acid mine waters from southwestern Spain were carried out using the zeolite derived from fly ash and c...

Synthesis and characterization of zeolites prepared from industrial fly ash

In this paper, we present the possibility of using fly ash to produce synthetic zeolites. The synthesis class F fly ash from the Stalowa Wola SA heat and power plant was subjected to 24 h hydrothermal reaction with sodium hydroxide. Depending on the reaction conditions, three types of synthetic zeolites were formed: Na-X (20 g fly ash, 0.5 dm(3) of 3 mol · dm(-3) NaOH, 75 °C), Na-P1 (20 g fly a...

Rapid Adsorption of Crystal Violet onto Magnetic Zeolite Synthesized from Fly Ash and Magnetite Nanoparticles

This work reports the adsorption of crystal violet (CV) dye onto magnetic zeolite (MZ) nanoparticles, synthesized by direct fusion of fly ash (FA) and magnetite particles. The synthesised MZ showed high capacity for CV dye adsorption, removing 95% of the dye at an equilibrium adsorption time of 10 min and 25 ̊C. The effects of adsorbent dosage, dye concentration, and pH, on adsorption were evalu...

Fly Ash Derived Zeolites in the Removal of Toxic Compounds

The present paper describes the previous obtained results concerning purification of gases, water and sewages from toxic components such as mercury, radionuclides and petroleum substances. The tested materials constitute synthetic zeolites obtained in hydrothermal reaction, i.e., Na-X, Na-P1, and natural zeolite clinoptilolite. The zeolites (Na-X, Na-P1 and clinoptilolite) needed for mercury ca...

Simultaneous degradation and adsorption of cyanide using modified fly ASH and TiO2/UV

Due to the present water shortage and environmental problems associated with industrial effluent, investigation of novel treatment technologies is an essential approach. Being a highly toxic chemical of asphyxiating characteristics, cyanide is seen as a major environmental pollutant in a wide range of industrial effluents. The present study aimed to address the adsorption and photocatalytic deg...
