POSSIBLE IMMUNE ALTERATION AFTER COCHLEAR IMPLANTATION

Aims:Cochlear implant (CI) is a widely accepted device to patients with severe profound sensorineural hearing loss replace the normal pathway. Since portion of implanted under skin, possible immune alteration may occur. Our aim was assess production some selected pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines in cochlear implants their impact on outcomes. Material Methods: study conducted 25 who were subjected IL-1β, IL2, IFN-γ IL6 laboratory assessment preoperatively, postoperatively, 6 months after CI 2 years CI. Simultaneously, impedance neural response telemetry (NRT) measured data analyzed statistically relation findings. Results:No significant difference found between levels at different times except increase IL-1β first fitting postoperatively comparison preoperative sample. Also, no as regards values NRT decrease postoperative measures intraoperative without any malfunction. Conclusion:There minimal immediately functional affection which be attributed trauma implantation surgery rather than foreign body response.
