چکیده

Abstract After a dry spring, in June 2020 several intense storms occurred at the headwaters of small basins Muráň and Zdychava rivers territory Muránska planina National Park (Slaná River basin, Slovakia). In first part study– according to hydrological survey made by authors after flash flood – peak discharge was reconstructed profiles. Next, waves were rainfall-runoff model NLC (non-linear cascade). The results modelling based on field investigations show that, despite extreme precipitation event (108 mm per 1 hour gauging station Predná Hora), flow rates not exceptional selected profiles River. fact that above 120 fell relatively very area division rivers’ water contributed this result. second part, catastrophic 1000-year rainfall scenario basin has been prepared. analysing time series identifying T -year daily depths, data used from six stations vicinity planina. Then, Revúca simulated calibrated model. such an scenario, rate would reach 105.15 m 3 s −1 , i.e. with specific runoff 1.78 km–2. total 18-hour period be 1.119 million representing 21.11% (5.301 ).

The Securitization Flash Flood

What caused the flood of securitized products in the years immediately preceding the crisis? This paper presents evidence that demand for safe collateral in repo markets made it attractive for financial institutions to issue securitized products. Using the 2005 Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act (BAPCPA) as a natural experiment that shocked the demand for collateral, this p...

Flash flood and sediment modeling with TREX

TREX is a physically-based, distributed model that simulates flash floods, sediment transport, and chemical transport and fate processes at the watershed scale. Basic processes in TREX include precipitation, interception, infiltration, surface runoff, and channel flow, erosion and deposition of upland soil and channel bed sediment, and chemical transport. TREX is readily coupled with standard G...

Flash flood awareness in southwest Virginia.

Flash floods are one of the most dangerous weather-related natural disasters in the world. These events develop less than six hours after a rainfall event and create hazardous situations for people and extensive damage to property. It is critical for flash flood conditions to be warned of in a timely manner to minimize impacts. There is currently a knowledge gap between flood experts and the ge...

A spatially distributed flash flood forecasting model

This paper presents a distributed model that is in operational use for forecasting flash floods in northern Austria. The main challenge in developing the model was parameter identification which was addressed by a modelling strategy that involved a model structure defined at the model element scale and multi-source model identification. The model represents runoff generation on a grid basis and...

Flash Flood Forecasting: An Ingredients-Based Methodology

An approach to forecasting the potential for flash flood–producing storms is developed, using the notion of basic ingredients. Heavy precipitation is the result of sustained high rainfall rates. In turn, high rainfall rates involve the rapid ascent of air containing substantial water vapor and also depend on the precipitation efficiency. The duration of an event is associated with its speed of ...
