We review the fundamentals and highlight differences between some commonly used definitions for PPN gamma parameter ($\gamma$) gravitational slip ($\eta$). Here we stress usefulness of a gamma-like by Berry Gair ($\gamma_{\scriptscriptstyle \Sigma}$) that parametrizes bending light Shapiro time delay in situations which standard $\gamma$ cannot be promptly used. First apply our considerations to two well known cases, but conflicting results can found: massive Brans-Dicke gravity $f(R)$ (both metric Palatini versions). Although is always defined, it has general no direct relation either deflection or delay, hence care should taken on imposing bounds slip. that, any system with posed Newtonian limit, theories have $\gamma = 1$; while only values: 1 1/2. The extension towards Horndeski shows qualitative surprises, $\gamma_{\scriptscriptstyle \Sigma}$ constant this context (only assuming potentials approximated analytical functions). This implies precise study different impact parameters principle rule out complete action as an gravity. Also, comment consequences inferences at external galaxies.

Post-Newtonian celestial mechanics in scalar-tensor cosmology
Applying the recently developed dynamical perturbation formalism on cosmological background to scalar-tensor theory, we provide a solid theoretical basis and a rigorous justification for phenomenological models of orbital dynamics that are currently used to interpret experimental measurements of the timedependent gravitational constant. We derive the field equations for the scalar-tensor pertur...
متن کاملSecond post-Newtonian approximation of scalar-tensor theory of gravity
Deep space laser ranging missions like ASTROD I (Single-Spacecraft Astrodynamical Space Test of Relativity using Optical Devices) and ASTROD, together with astrometry missions like GAIA and LATOR will be able to test relativistic gravity to an unprecedented level of accuracy. More precisely, these missions will enable us to test relativistic gravity to 10−7−10−9 of the size of relativistic (pos...
متن کاملGravitational field around a time-like current-carrying screwed cosmic string in scalar-tensor theories
In this paper we obtain the space-time generated by a time-like current-carrying superconducting screwed cosmic string(TCSCS). This gravitational field is obtained in a modified scalar-tensor theory in the sense that torsion is taken into account. We show that this solution is comptible with a torsion field generated by the scalar field φ. The analysis of gravitational effects of a TCSCS shows ...
متن کاملPost-Newtonian Gravitational Radiation
Let us declare that the most important devoir of any physical theory is to draw firm predictions for the outcome of laboratory experiments and astronomical observations. Unfortunately, the devoir is quite difficult to fulfill in the case of general relativity, essentially because of the complexity of the Einstein field equations, to which only few exact solutions are known. For instance, it is ...
متن کاملPost-Newtonian Parameters from Alternative Theories of Gravity
Alternative theories of gravity have been recently studied in connection with their cosmological applications, both in the Palatini and in the metric formalism. The aim of this paper is to propose a theoretical framework (in the Palatini formalism) to test these theories at the solar system level and possibly at the galactic scales. We exactly solve field equations in vacuum and find the corres...
