Post-operative rehabilitation of displaced-proximal radius fracture: a case study

Proximal radial fractures typically occur after a fall on the outstretched hand. Elbow trauma is usually followed by post-traumatic elbow stiffness, which has been recognized as major cause of functional impairment. A stiff restricts patient’s ability to position hand in space required, for desired use upper extremities during activity daily living. The goal rehabilitation, stiffness restore arc motion. patient treatment should be designed depending severity, type and time course arthrofibrosis. Since, there no universally algorithm, must personalized/customized stipulated through shared decision-making process with each patient. Fourty four-year female was diagnosed post – operative following displaced proximal one-third radius fracture (right side). had decreased muscle strength limited shoulder, wrist range motion, hypersensitivity around scar pain. Progressive multi-treatment rehabilitation approach given Physical therapy intervention improved strength, pain well aided quick recovery from elbow.
