چکیده
Abstract Due to the nature of Selective Laser Melting process, built parts suffer from high chances defects formation. Powders quality have a significant impact on final attributes SLM-manufactured items. From processing standpoint, it is critical ensure proper powder distribution and compaction in each layer bed, which impacted by particle size distribution, packing density, flowability, sphericity particles. Layer-by-layer study process can provide better understanding effect bed part quality. Image-based technique could be used examine fabricated through layerwise monitoring evaluate results achieved other techniques. In this paper, not supervised methodology based Digital Image Processing build-in machine camera proposed. Since limitation optical system terms resolution, positioning, lighting, field-of-view, many efforts were paid calibration data processing. Its capability individuate possible SLM was evaluated Computer Tomography verification.

This study investigates the feasibility of a novel concept, contact-free support structures, for part overhangs in powder-bed metal additive manufacturing. The intent is to develop alternative support designs that require no or little post-processing, and yet, maintain effective in minimizing overhang distortions. The idea is to build, simultaneously during part fabrications, a heat sink (calle...
متن کاملResidual Stress in Metal Parts Produced by Powder-Bed Additive Manufacturing Processes
In this study, residual stresses from the electron beam additive manufacturing (EBAM) and selective laser melting (SLM) processes, due to repeated thermal cycles, were investigated. Residual stresses play a crucial role in part performance, and thus, it is critical to evaluate the process-induced residual stresses in AM parts. Ti-6Al-4V and Inconel 718 parts produced by EBAM and SLM, respective...
متن کاملMesoscopic Simulation of Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow in Laser Powder Bed Additive Manufacturing
Laser-powder bed fusion (L-PBF) additive manufacturing involves complex physics such as heat transfer and molten metal flow, which have a significant influence on the final build quality. In this study, transport phenomena based modeling is used to provide a quantitative understanding of complex molten pool transients. In particular, a three dimensional (3D), transient numerical model is develo...
متن کاملBubble formation on a single orifice in a gas solid fluidized bed using digital image analysis
Digital Image Analysis (DIA) has been employed to characterize the time evolution of a bubble injected from a single orifice into a pseudo 2-dimansional gas-solid fluidized bed. The injected bubble diameter increased with the square root of time before detachment. During bubble free flight in the bed, its diameter remains approximately constant. The center of mass of the bubble increases with t...
